SCOPS wants to confirm that sheep scab mites can survive up to 18 days off sheep and not 'just a couple of days' as suggested in a recent trade press article. It is VERY important to apply this in any treatment and control strategies. Re-infestation is highly likely to occur if sheep are put back into fields, buildings or even handling systems before 18 days has elapsed. Please read instructions on treatments carefully and always apply the 18 days exclusion to any situation.
