Sheep farmers warned to Treat pregnant Ewes with Care

“There are reports of sheep farmers are running into problems such as 'Downer Ewe syndrome' and blindness when using some flukicides. This is because they are not aware of possible side effects if these products are not administered correctly. Oxyclozanide, nitroxynil and closantel must be administered at the correct dose rate (neither under nor over) and where repeated treatments are required the minimum interval indicated on the datasheet must be observed. Particular care is required when treating heavily pregnant ewes.
